Asthma & Temperature / Humidity Changes
Children’s Hospital of Michigan in Detroit have found that temperature and humidity changes exacerbate asthma symptoms. The researchers examined the medical records of 25,000 children who visited the ER from 2004-5. Patients were generally aware that weather fluctuations influenced their symptoms, but this is the first study to scientifically document the effect by excluding other factors such as pollution and pollen counts. The results of the study appear in the most recent edition of Annals of Allergy Asthma and Immunology. As a fall precaution, beware of the first dip below 50c. (more…)
